tip (noun):
1. A small sum of money given to someone for performing a service; a gratuity.
2. A piece of advice or a helpful hint.My love affair with computers began before I can remember. My tryst with the web was a natural extension of that relationship. In 1996 I authored my first personal site and began doing volunteer web work. By 1997 I was doing professional web site development and I began my daily diary.
Over the years I've gotten some truly lovely responses to my site. I've received many wonderful e-mails which I have genuinely appreciated. I've gotten priceless advice and met several readers in person. I've also gotten some precious gifts. A book I was hunting for arrived in the mail from friend and reader Jeff. My server space is a generous gift from friend and reader Ashley. My domain name was purchased as a birthday present from my then boyfriend now husband.
In addition to the countless hours of time I put into this obsession, my domain names require an annual fee. Though I have received suggestions on the subject, I have never considered putting banner ads on my site as a source of income. However, if you've enjoyed my creative efforts and you'd like to offer a token of your appreciation [and make my day!], you have five options at your disposal...
1. Kind-hearted e-mail is always appreciated. Please do not send me an insult. If you have a question, would like to report a dead link or spelling error, or wish to send me a message which is considerate of my feelings, please do. I try to always respond. I can be reached at:
jan2008webmail@reinyday.com
or you can fill out this form:
2. A link to my site is always appreciated. Reinyday.com would be of no interest to me if I didn't get visitors; my diary only exists by virtue of the fact that I have readers. If you'd like to provide a link, you have the following options:
is the main address for my website
- http://www.reinyday.com/rachel/daily/diary.html
is the main address for my diary
- http://diary.reinyday.com
is the splash page for my diary
3. In the true spirit of The Tip Jar you may contribute a gratuity (see below) or some helpful advice. Filling out the following form will allow you to leave your adivce in my virtual tip jar (tips will not be added to the jar immediately). Please contribute your advice below or view The Jar.
4. If you'd like to leave a financial gift, you may do so with PayPal or the amazon honor system. These services allow you to transfer money from one credit card or bank account to another via e-mail. Even a dollar would be appreciated, as it will go towards my annual domain name costs. The buttons below will allow you to log on or sign up, and gifts may be donated directly to my e-mail address at jan2008webmail@reinyday.com. [If you want more info, here's an interesting article on PayPal from 31 August 2000.]
